Oregon Family Vacation: 2 Families, 2 Vacations, 1 State

Its that time again!! Oregon Coast Family Reunion!!!! The best part about it was that Brian came with me!! The worst part about it was that for the first time, I didn't fly. Yes, Brian and I drove the 14 hours from Salt Lake City to the Oregon Coast. It was a really long drive, but I did sleep most of the way....like I usually do. I got to see Tahnee I our way in!! I love that girl. The reason why we drove is because the very next weekend after my family was done at the beach, Brian's family has an annual family vacation in Joseph, Oregon. So it was 10 days of a lot of fun. We were finally at the beach at the right time for Dorey Days!! There was a cute little parade through the cute little town. Matthew, Mckeely and Maleeya were pretty competitive when it came to collecting the candy..... and Maveric was just scared of all the noise.
There was one day that was SO warm, so we hit the waves!! Brian brought a wet suit that he use to wear when he was 12, and I did my best to fit into it. It BARELY fit, like puting it was the hardest thing I've ever done. But it was nice to stay warm in the water.
Sarah decided she wanted to roll down the sand hill, but she didn't want to get sand in her eyes. So she put her hood on and pulled it as tight as she could. She ended up right in the middle of someone's frisbee game, just laying there looking like a goof ball. I died laughing, it was so funny
One of the crafts we did this wear was to let the kids tye dye their own shirts, but with permanent markers. it was a cool little craft and all the kids loved it. After they were done they had to do what they love doing the most at the beach....digging a hole in the sand.
As always, we had to take some family pictures out on the porch with the giant rock in the back ground.
I don't know what we were thinking, but we all decided to take the kids and hike up the GIANT sand hill. It was so long, and when we got to the top it was crazy windy, but the view was amazing.
Of course, we had to explore the tide pools!!
Crabbing!!! We caught some good looking crabs!! More importantly, Brian had his first peanut butter and fluff sandwich...a Barrand favorite.
Since TV is not allowed at the beach, my mom decided to put together a little Minute To Win It game. It was so much fun, and a lot harder than it looks! One of the prizes was a boomerang....which we had a hard time figuring out how to throw, so we made John run around the beach retreiving it for us.
On our last night at the beach we had a bond fire and make smores and Mckeely shared with us the legend of the sand dollar.
Now onto The Washburn Family Vacation!! Every year his family goes up to Joseph, Oregon (where they have a cabin) for Chief Joseph Days!! There is a parade and a rodeo and the town is so cute. It was so much fun to get away for all the hussle and bussle of life. We went hiking!! There aren't many places in the world more beautiful that Oregon.
Brian and I took a night to wander around Joseph. We stopped in the shops and did some paddle boating and I found a giant chair!!
Brian and his grandpa both love to fly fish, so they took me out and taught me how! I don't want to brag, but I'm basically a naturally awesome fly fisher.
Part of celebrating Chief Joseph Days is going to parade and rodeo!! It was kind of hilarous how excited Brian was to wear his cowboy boots and his cowboy hat.
