Ironman Boise - 70.3
Since regular triathlons are not hardcore enough for Brian, he has now fallen under the spell of Ironman. He did his first half Ironman in Boise, which was really great because we got to stay with Matt and Sarah and play with all the kids. It was a really great weekend. The kids all made poster signs to help cheer for Brian at his triathlon. We waxed our noses (a must do when we are at Matt’s house), got some Jamba Juice, and just had a good time!!
It was SO cold. It was raining and snowing and freezing!! Poor Brian had to stand out in the cold with no coat or gloves while he was waiting for his wave to get in the freezing cold water. So I had him put his hands in my armpits, or as I like to call it "arm pitting it." Hey, it helped keep his hands warm.
So after Brian got in the water I decided to head back into Boise to warm up and meet him at his second trasition. Well, because of where the road was in relation to the lake, I was trapped until all the triathletes passed on their bikes. So I stood on the side of the road to cheer for Brian as he road past, and as soon as they started letting cars go I booked it as fast as I could back to Boise to catch Brian at T2 (second transition). Because the bike portion was cut short due to dangerous riding conditions, I had to literally run from my parking spot in down town Boise to get to the transition area on time. I BARELY made it...but I did make it. Since I didn't know where I was going, I was just running. I ended up on the opposite side of the path from Matt and Sarah and kids.
He made it!!! And we were both still thawing out from being soaking wet that morning. Brian liked that race enough to sign up for another! Hopefully it won't be so cold next time.
