Lake Itasca and the Mississippi Headwaters

After a long cold winter Brian and I were anxious to get outside and do some camping. May started out being a very warm month so I planned a camping weekend at Lake Itasca.  The weekend we went ended up being so cold, probably the coldest two days of the whole month, but we had so much fun.  We love spending time outside and needed to get away from the city for a couple of days.

All bundled up!

I was sitting too close to the fire and ended up burning a hole in favorite jacket.

Walking down the the headwaters!

Ta Da! The beginning of the mighty Mississippi!!

It may have been cold, but the meant no crowds!

Selfie with the Mississippi!

Typical Minnesota... only Minnesota would have an ALERT asking people to have a nice day

How we spent a lot of our time, in the tent under the covers reading

This kid did a great job making awesome fires to keep us warm!

The perfect ending to our camping weekend
