Easter in DC

Before moving to Pittsburgh Brian and I came up with an East Coast Bucket List.  We have done everything on that list except for one!  The Cherry Blossoms in DC!!  The cherry blossoms are hard to predict, so we just picked a weekend and hoped for the best!  Since it was Easter weekend, I had to make the famous Bunny Buns!!  I doubled the recipe, so we have enough Bunny Buns to last a year!

This is how Brian shows off his muscles...I mean, eats cookies

This man LOVES Bunny Buns!  He can't get enough!

Ta Da!!! Bunny Buns!!

Brian and I have been to DC a few times, so we tried to find a few things that we haven't seen before.  Our first stop was at the George Washington Masonic National Memorial.  While we were waiting for the tour we found a cherry blossom tree!!!!  We were about a week too early for the peak bloom but this tree was good enough for me.  The memorial building was so beautiful and such an interesting tour to take.

THE cherry blossom!!!  It was so beautiful!! And literally the only great one we saw
the entire weekend

The next few pictures are from the inside of the memorial.  We were able to visit a few floors, most of which had regalia from the various Masonic orders.

The Easter Bunny found us in DC!!!

One of my favorite things to do in DC is to take a walk around to all the monuments at night.  They are so beautiful at night with all the lights shining.

The Washington Monument
The last time we were in DC it was still under construction from the earthquake a few years back.  It was so nice to see it will all the scaffolding gone.

The World War II Memorial with the Lincoln Memorial in the background
This is by far my favorite monument to see at night.

The last thing we did before heading home was to stop and see the Iwo Jima Monument.  It is such a famous monument we couldn't leave DC without seeing it!
